Neuromodulators - Botox & Dysport

Perhaps the most popular cosmetic procedure, injection of neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport has helped millions of men and women improve the appearance of facial aging. Because of its widespread use, it is easy to forget that injection of neuromodulators is a medical treatment that must be administered carefully by a licensed medical professional who understands the nuances of the underlying facial muscles actions and the appropriate preparation and application of the injectable medication to improve the appearance of wrinkles.

Neuromodulators are a class of injectable products that can temporarily (for three to six months) relax overactive muscles and soften the appearance of certain wrinkles. Neuromodulators block the nerve impulses that enable the muscle contractions responsible for creating expression lines on the face. They can smooth existing lines and may prevent expression lines from forming. These medications have been tested in clinical trials and are FDA approved to relax the deep creases between the eyebrows. These injections are an effective technique for combating external signs of aging, such as wrinkles, from repetitive muscle actions created by facial expression. The result is a relaxed and softened appearance and thus reduction in wrinkle visibility.

Neuromodulators can be used to treat such areas as:

  • Frown lines (the 11’s)
  • Horizontal forehead creases
  • Crow’s feet
  • Lip lines
  • Chin dimpling
  • Overactive neck muscles (platysmal banding)

BOTOX

Botox injections typically only take a few minutes and do not require anesthesia. Results can take as many as seven days before the full benefit is visible and lasts approximately three to six months. Effects become more substantial over time as the process is repeated.

DYSPORT

Dysport is similar to Botox in its purpose and delivery. Both are derived from Botulinum toxin type A proteins and last approximately three to six months. Dysport has the advantage of a quicker onset time. Please consult your doctor to discuss which option best addresses your goals.

Kybella

Excess fatty tissue can accumulate below the jaw line as a result of aging, genetics, or weight gain.  This area can be very stubborn. Even with diet and exercise, submental fat may be difficult to get rid of. Created from Deoxycholic Acid, Kybella™  is a naturally occurring molecule that is used by the body to help in the breakdown and absorption of unwanted fat.  Kybella is a new FDA-approved treatment that can dissolve fat under the chin to create a more elegant neck line.  The result can be achieved after a series of three to five treatments.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is derived from the patient’s blood and contains high concentrations of platelets and the patient’s natural growth factors.  It can be injected into the scalp to help restore the health and fullness of hair as well as reverse the appearance of early hair loss.  It can also be applied topically to the skin after laser resurfacing or micro-needling to help with acne scarring and early aging signs.Eclipse PRP® is a proprietary PRP kit and system based on blood separation according to density using a unique separation gel. The PRP platform is available with an 11 mL PRP collection tube or 22 mL high concentration collection tube. The system allows for the preparation of pure Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) with optimal platelet concentrations and cellular content. Virtually all Red Blood Cells (RBC) are eliminated from PRP and the concentration of pro-inflammatory Granulocytes (GRs) is highly reduced.

Facial Fillers

FILLER INJECTIONS

Injectable fillers are effective for improving ‘static’ wrinkles which are visible at rest. Fillers differ from each other in their component material, reversibility, particle size, viscosity and expected duration of effect. The major benefit of injectable fillers is that, except for minor bruising, they require little or no downtime and most deliver immediate visible results. Certain characteristics of each filler material may make it more favorable for use in certain areas of the face. Please consult with your doctor to discuss which filler is right for you and your cosmetic goals.

Hyaluronic acid is composed of a naturally occurring substance in the human body.  It is the main component of a number of injectable fillers. There are numerous available injectable fillers made of Hyaluronic acid including: JUVEDERM®, JUVEDERM® XC, Voluma® , RESTYLANE® , RESTYLANE® SILK, RESTYLANE® LIFT, and Belotero. A unique benefit of this class of injectable is that its effects can be reversed and the product can be dissolved if a patient is not happy with the result.

JUVEDERM®XC & JUVEDERM® ultra XC

A popular hyaluronic acid filler, Juvederm is FDA approved for injection in the nasolabial folds and lips. In addition, it can also help the appearance of mild to moderate lines in the chin, marionette lines, jowls and jaw line. Results are expected to last six months or longer.

JUVEDERM® Voluma XC

Voluma is a hyaluronic acid filler that can be used to contour and volumize the malar region to create the appearance of higher cheekbones. Results with Voluma may last up to 2 years.

RESTYLANE® RESTYLANE® SILK

Restylane and Restylane Silk are also made of hyaluronic acid. Restylane is FDA approved for injection in the nasolabial folds. It can also be helpful in improving the appearance of lines around the mouth, tear trough hollows beneath the eyes and enhancement of lips. Restylane injections typically last 6-9 months.

RESTYLANE® LYFT

Similar to Restylane and Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft is also a gel made of hyaluronic acid. Restylane Lyft can be used to enhance and contour the cheek bones.

RADIESSE®

Radiesse is a calcium-based volumizing dermal filler that is used to fill deeper lines, especially in the nasolabial fold region. Radiesse particles are larger than hyaluronic acid. As a result, its effect may be longer lasting (up to 18 months). However, because of the larger particle size, it is not suitable for finer lines or delicate areas such as the lips.

SCULPTRA

Sculptra is a unique facial injectable product made of poly L lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic biodegradable polymer. PLLA is found in dissolvable sutures that have been used for decades. Sculptra does not act like other dermal fillers; it is a bio activator. Once it is injected, the solution it is suspended in is rapidly absorbed in the body within 1-2 days. The PLLA molecules then work by stimulating the body to produce new collagen at the sites of injection. Over the 6-8 weeks following injection, the body generates new collagen in the area that replaces the lost volume and restores the fullness of youth. At 6-8 weeks, your doctor may recommend an additional treatment. Because Sculptra stimulates the body to produce its own collagen, once full correction is achieved, the results can last up to 2-3 years.

Skin Care Procedures

PhotoTherapy BBL

BBL ToolBBL BroadBand Light technology utilizes the power of pulsed light to deliver excellent phototherapy results. By selecting the appropriate wavelength or filter, the physician will be able to treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by skin aging and sun exposure. The light energy delivered by the BBL gently heats the upper layers of the skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas stimulates the skin cells to generate new collagen. This process helps restore the skin to its natural stage. In addition, the photothermal energy targets and eliminates many of the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions.

Skin Tyte II

SkinTyte utilizes infrared energy to deeply heat soft tissue while protecting the entire treated area with sapphire contact cooling. Targeted heating causes soft tissue coagulation that tightens tissue as it heals, stimulating collagen contraction and remodeling. This process initiates the body’s natural healing process and a new foundation of collagen is created, resulting in a firmer, more youthful skin appearance. The full effect of skin firming treatments can be seen over several subsequent months.

Exilis

BTL’s Exilis offers a revolutionary non-invasive form of treatment for the reduction of wrinkles and for the reshaping of targeted fat deposits. Exilis also complements pre and post treatment in invasive liposuction techniques. Exilis treatments can postpone or eliminate the need for invasive surgery particularly for patients with mild to moderate fat deposits and who may not be candidates for lipoplasty.

Exilis further provides fast and effective skin tightening, as well as treatment of wrinkles and rhytids, with visible results often after the first session.

Laser Resurfacing/Microlaser Peel

As we age, the effects of sun damage and environmental pollutants take their toll on our skin, causing it to wrinkle, develop sun spots and look tired. A Sciton skin resurfacing procedure can reverse these effects and restore a healthy look to the skin. There are two approaches to resurfacing: full field, and fractional. In full field resurfacing, the entire surface area of the skin is treated. A laser beam is scanned across the treatment area and precisely removes a layer of skin. The body will naturally replace the old, damaged skin that was removed with a fresh, healthy layer.

Treatments can range from shallow (which might be appropriate for eliminating fine lines, sun spots and tired-looking skin) to deep (which is often used to improve skin tone/texture and eliminate deep wrinkles, even in difficult areas like upper lip lines and crow’s feet). In fractional resurfacing, the laser removes pinpoint columns of skin, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. This approach allows the laser to penetrate very deeply for effective collagen remodeling, while the surrounding intact tissue promotes rapid healing.

Laser Hair Reduction

Laser or light energy is selectively absorbed by the melanin in hair follicles and converted to heat, diffusing to and injuring stem cells in the bulb and bulge. Effective hair reduction can only be achieved during the active growth phase and hair reduction is considered permanent when a significant amount of hair does not return for a period of time longer than the complete growth cycle. After a series of treatments, most hair is permanently removed. However, if hair does regrow it will be finer
