State of the art endoscopy equipment enable us to visualize the nasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx and esophagus. Our expertise and diagnostic tools can help diagnose and treat recurrent throat infections, benign lesions and throat cancers. We also have the ability to perform in-office esophagoscopy (transnasal esophagoscopy or TNE) under local anesthesia. This is a relatively simple alternative option for esophageal screening that avoids sedation and a prolonged recovery.
When should a sore throat be evaluated by an ENT doctor?
- Sore throat that does not respond to standard treatments or symptoms persist longer than 2-3 wks.
- Throat pain associated with difficulty breathing, swallowing, or hoarseness.
- Coughing up blood.
- Lump(s) in the neck, particularly if this is persistent or worsening.
- Recurrent throat infections such as tonsillitis or pharyngitis.
